Maui’s Future Begins with the Youth

KYA invests in Maui’s Future.

Reaching families, training youth, investing in the future.

Koa Youth Advancement exists to support and educate youth and families by promoting healthy lifestyles, work training, environmental awareness, social skills, spirituality, and general life skills that contribute to future success for the individuals and their community.

Upcountry Youth Programs

KYA is partnered with Waipuna Chapel in Kula and the global Awana organization. KYA operates weekly youth programs that support our mission and values. This weekly “Awana Upcountry” youth program involves more than 50 students, 35 volunteers and impacts an estimated 500 local Maui families annually.

Ocean Training, Skills & Discipline

Here in Hawaii, the ocean is part of our lives and some would say it is a way of life.

KYA organizes and operates ocean training with families and youth. Activities include free-diving, invasive species eradication, boat safety training, open ocean swimming and surfing.

KYA operates more than 30 ocean activities each year, impacting more than 100 local families.

Purpose

Jack & Tara Dugan started Koa Youth Advancement (KYA) to support their passion for youth, healthy lifestyles and the community on Maui.

KYA is a 501(c)(3) charity organization, initially funded solely by the Dugan’s and has gathered attention from friends, family and community members who have chosen to contribute financially and also with their time.

KYA is fortunate to work with a multitude of volunteers who freely donate their team and make sacrifices for the youth and their families.

If you would like more information about our programs, would like to volunteer or would like to make a financial donation, please contact Tara at awanasupcountry@gmail.com
